Upcoming July 7th, “Team Trivia Night,” is back….so here is a practice question: “The Corvette’s Car Name” is based upon what?”  The Corvette was named after a small, speedy class of ships called the Corvette.  Myron Scott, chief photographer for GM, came up with the name and was the creator of the All-American Soap Box Derby.  Hope all have signed up for a great night of food, dancing, & trivia!  Winners receive bragging rights and cash!

Speaking of the Corvette, one of the very first cars I sat behind the wheel of was a beautiful ’55 Corvette!  Unknowledgeable of how to work a standard transmission, but took to the wheel anyway, I promptly received the name, “Crash!”  Moving on…why not come out and see the many classic car’s on display by Westlake’s Auto Club on July 13th at 6:30 P.M..  Frank Prendergast will have his 1973 original design “Vette” with other resident classic cars such as a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado, a 1955 city bus, as well as, 1963 Chevy Impala.  For purchase, The Grill will offer hamburgers & hot dogs!

Recently, I sat in one of Westlake Golf & Country Club’s new golf carts.  Fortunately, I’ve learned to drive a stick shift & golf cart since!  The exterior is bright white, while the interior sports new, comfortable seating!  Westlake is now the proud owner of 40 new carts.  They certainly will stand out against the gorgeous greens of our golf course!

A new member joining the Marketing Committee is Mary Prendergast!  Mary will assist as a roving reporter for our monthly Newsletter!  Our committee thanks Mary for volunteering in this endeavor and has helped immensely with this month’s Newsletter!

Enjoy eating Clams?  The annual Westlake Women’s Club, “Clam Bake & Barbecue” will be held, Thursday July 12th at 6:00 PM, on the patio adjacent to the pool.  A great evening under the stars with your neighbors awaits our seafood loving residents!  All proceeds benefit “Bread from Heaven,” held at the Knights of Columbus in Jackson, NJ.  Every Tuesday afternoon they provide a safe haven for seniors, the disabled and others in need, where all are welcome to come and enjoy a hot meal, and food pantry, at no cost.
