The Wellmont Theater
In 1929, the Wellmont Theater was converted into a movie theater on Bloomfield Avenue, where inventor Thomas Edison was among its many visitors. Montclair Art Museum
The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) engages and inspires the community with its vast collection of American and Native American art. Boasting a collection of more than 12,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and prints dating from the 18th century to the present, the museum also showcases a variety of contemporary artwork highlighting life in a global context. MAM is home to the only gallery in the world solely dedicated to showing the work of the 19th-century American painter George Inness, who called Montclair his home from 1885 to 1894.

More than 140 years ago, successful businessman Joseph Van Vleck Sr. created a private estate in Montclair NJ, known as the Van Vleck House & Gardens. While there have been several changes to the property since 1868, the stunning U-shaped Italianate villa and landscaped grounds have remained the same. The gardens are full of ericaceous plants that have grown over generations, including hybrid species of rhododendrons and azaleas, but the location also hosts a variety of special events, fundraisers, and other occasions throughout the year.
