On June 20th the Westlake Golf and Country Club played host to the New Jersey PGA Assistant/Open Stroke play tournament. A field of 50 Pro’s and Assistant competed. All expressed delight at playing at this very beautiful and challenging course.
The Winner this year was Tyler Hall, the pro at The Upper Montclair County Club, with a 2 under par finish. Tyler, who is the current NJPGA State Open Champion, and 2 time back to back winner, loved playing at Westlake.
Subject: Tyler Hall – Thank You
“Wanted to reach out quickly and thank you for hosting us last Monday for the open stroke play event! Was very impressed with the facility as a whole and I loved the golf course. Awesome to play a place with great character and in outstanding condition, not to mention having great spectator support. Thank you again to you and all of your staff for a great day.”

There are two sections to these tournaments, the PGA Member division and an Assistant Pro Division. I asked our own Assistant Pro Steve Westphal, who finished T9, what’s the importance of playing in these events. He indicated “While playing for the prize money is great, we also get great experience competing against my peers, and accumulating “Player of the Year” points, but more importantly we start building our professional network, as I grow in my golf career.”
Thanks to all of the Westlake Residents who supported this event, by being interested spectators, and cheering all the players on. Holding these types of events at Westlake Golf and Country Club helps extend our messaging as a great place to live and play.
